1. Getting subtitles to work.
Hard-subbed: No need to do anything. Subtitles are burned into the video. The subtitles will show up on every player. Unfortunately, you can not turn off the subtitle or change its size, font or location.
Soft-subbed: Soft-subbed means that the subtitle file or files are separate from the video file. In most cases, naming the soft-sub file with the exact same filename as the video file will make the subtitle show up. If that does not work, play the video using VLC or MPC and drag the file onto the window where the video is playing.
Soft-subbed [SRT]: Name the SRT file and the video file with the exact same name except for the extension. SRT files are great because you can change the size, font and location. Because srt files are just text, their size is very small [under 100KB] and they render beautifully on HD screens, unlike .idx/.sub files.
Soft-subbed [.sub/.idx]: Name the .idx/.sub files and the video file with the exact same name except for the extension. These subtitle files can support international characters. When you run the video you may see Chinese/Korean/Japanese subtitles. No worries – in VLC/MPC you have the option to change it to “English”. Since these are not text, rendering it on HD screens does not look as good as SRT files, but it has the advantage of multiple language options. .sub/.idx files tend to be larger in size from 3MB to 10MB depending on the the length of dialogue, this is because .sub/.idx are not text file like SRT files.
Example
Soft-subbed [.ass]: Same as SRT and idx/sub files, name the .ASS file and the video file with the exact same name except for the extension. .ASS subtitles are common with Japanese movies, dramas and anime. Some fansubbers like them because they have the ability to edit the color, font and location of the subtitles.
Embedded/Muxed Subtitles : This usually comes with MKV video files. MKV is a container that can bundle the subtitle and video together. When you first open the video files, sometimes the subtitles will not appear as a default. Go to the ‘Subtitle’ option in VLC or MPC player and select the language you want. If one video player does not show the subtitle, try a different one.
Out of Sync Subtitles : Instead of asking us to re-sync subtitles, please take a few minutes and learn how to re-sync the subtitle yourself. You can then share the sync subtitles with the community!- SRT syncing: http://submerge.delarue-berlin.de/. If the problem is a 1 or 2 second delay in the subtitle, this site can shift the whole SRT timing for you. If the problem cannot be fixed by shifting the timing, then you will need to download “Subtitle Workshop”. It’s free and easy to work with, with tons of features to help set the timing correctly for SRT files.
- Sync with VLC Player: You can delay/speed up the subtitle by pressing “h” or “g” on the keyboard to get the subtitle to sync up with the audio. This is the easiest way. If the SRT is timed to a video file with a different frame-rate this solution will not work. You will have to use Aegisub – get down and dirty and fix it. It may take some time.- Convert idx/sub to SRT: Use this program to do the conversion. It’s very simple and takes less than 5 minutes: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Subrip. Basically load the .idx/.sub into the program and enter the letter you see on the screen.2. Downloading problems. That means if their server is down or slow, we can not do anything about it. We can only replace links that are dead. Nothing else. We have no control over Megaupload or Fileserve.
Use a Download Manager
Never download using the browser. You will encounter many problems and many headaches and since everyone’s situation is different, we will not be able to help in this case. There are many reasons why your download did not finish, is slow or corrupted – we cannot guess which reason applies to you. If you are using your browser to download, please don’t ask for help. Our answer will be “Please use a download manager you are comfortable with.”.
- Use internet download manager (IDM).
Download at max speed for your internet connection. It has the ability to resume downloads and works great for premium users.
3. Understanding video files and different releases.Types of Video files
RMVB Files: Extremely popular for distributing Chinese content such as TV series due to its smaller size and streaming capabilities. Very limited playback options. Not versatile. Lowest quality.
AVI Files: The most popular container and has the best playback options since it can be played by almost all media and DVD players. Not versatile. Decent quality.
MP4 Files: Least preferred container to encode movies since it doesn’t support AC3 audio out of the box. Mainly used to encode TV series due to its streaming capabilities. Versatile (not out of the box). Higher quality.
MKV Files: Most suitable and preferred container to encode HD content, but has limited playback options. Versatile. Highest quality.Note: ‘Versatility’ in this context refers to how many streams (video, audio and subtitles) a particular container is able support.
Ripping: Ripping is the process of copying audio or video content to a hard disk, typically from removable media. The word is used to refer to all forms of media. Despite the name, neither the media nor the data is damaged after extraction. In addition, the copied data are often compressed with appropriate codecs. Ripping is often used to shift formats, and to edit, duplicate or back up media content. Media files released on the Internet may describe the source of the rip in their names, e.g. DVD-Rip. (ref. Movies-DVDScr: A DVD Screener is a promotional copy of a motion picture sent by a movie studio before the official DVD release date to movie critics, Academy members, and executives for review purposes. In addition, DVD Screeners often contain logos or watermarks, therefore we only post them under certain circumstances. File size varies from 700MB to 1.4GB.-DVDRip: Nearly all of the movies on MyAC are DVDrip quality. Usually a copy of the final released DVD, it has almost the same quality as the original DVD. File size varies from 700MB to 1.4GB.+ DVDRip.XviD: Ripped using Xvid codec.+ DVDRip.x264:Ripped using x264 codec. - BDRip: Similar to DVDRip, but sourced off a Bluray Disc. A BDRip in DVDRip size often looks better than a same-size DVD rip because encoders have better source material. File size varies from 1.4GB to 3GB.- BRRip: Similar to a BDRip, but sourced off a Bluray release. BRRips are released by only a few “release groups” in the scene but are widely available via P2P and warez. File size varies from 1.4GB to 3GB.- HDRip: Similar to a BDRip, but sourced off an HDTV broadcast of the movie. File size varies from 1.4GB to 3GB.- 720p: Usually ripped from Bluray Discs or HDTV broadcast of the movie. File size varies from 4GB to 8 GB.- 1080p: Usually ripped from Bluray Discs or HDTV broadcast of the movie. File size varies from 8GB to 13GB.Dramas- Xvid: Around 700MB in size. Lowest quality.- 450p: Around 800MB in size. Great quality.- 720p: Around 1.5GB in size. The best quality.4. Extracting Files
- 7Zip:This is the best extraction program out there. It can extract nearly all types of split files. If you are comfortable using Winrar and HJsplit to do different jobs then go ahead, but if you are a newbie I suggest using 7zip. It can do what Winrar + HJsplit can do in one simple program. Download it, install it and it’s ready to be used.
Files ending [part1.rar/part2.rar/part3.rar/...]: You must first download all parts of the movie. If it comes with 8 parts, you must have all 8 parts before extracting. If one part is missing, it will not extract correctly. As you can see in the video, when you extract Part1.rar it will combine Part1 and Part2 together. You only have to extract Part1.rar and it will combine all the parts together. If you try to do an extraction on Part2.rar or any other parts, it will give you an error message. This is you being dumb, not because the file is corrupted.

Files ending [.avi.001/.avi.002 OR .mkv.001/.mkv.002]: You must first download all parts of the movie. If it comes with 8 parts, you must have all 8 parts before extracting. If one part is missing, it will not extract correctly. As you can see in the video, when you extract .avi.001 it will combine .avi.001 and .avi.002 together. Even if there are 12 parts, only extract .avi.001 and it will combine them all together. On most computers you can watch “movie.avi.001″ with no problem, but you will not be able to watch “movie.avi.002″. This does not mean that “movie.avi.002″ is corrupt. You need to combine all parts before you can watch the whole movie.

5. Things you shouldn’t ask for.Subtitles:-This website is NOT a subbing group. We do not make subtitles for the dramas and movies you see here. We put the subtitle links here with the raw video to make it convenient for everyone. We have NO CONTROL as to when subtitles will be released. There is no use in requesting subtitles. New subtitles realeased by the fansubbers to the public will be posted to their respective drama/movie. Kindly stop asking us when the subs will be posted – they will be posted when they are available.- Converting subtitles/Re-encoding/smaller file size
6. Programs you should have.7zip : This can extract every file that you find here on MyAC. One program that can do what both HJsplit and Winrar can. No need to have two programs to do two things. Just download 7zip.VLC Player : This player, combined with K-Lite Codec, will play nearly every video file you come across. It can also adjust subtitle timing, color and position.Media Player Classic : Also known as MPC. Very small program that can play nearly every video file. When VLC fails to play, try MPC; when MPC fails to play, try VLC. With MPC and VLC, you should not have a problem playing a video file, unless that file is really corrupt.K-Lite Code : Best codec out there. Will assist VLC and MPC in playing different type of video files.VOBSub : By default, Windows Media Player can not handle .idx/.sub subtitle files. If you must watch it using Window Media Player, you need to have VOBsub to get .idx/.sub subtitles to work.7. Need Password to extract the archive
