 Penganalisis-penganalisis politik melihat keputusan terbaru kerajaan membenarkan guru — antaranya guru besar dan pengetua — terlibat aktif dalam politik hanya semata-mata untuk mendapatkan semula sokongan golongan tersebut dan juga masyarakat menjelang pilihanraya umum ke-13.
Ini kerana menurut beberapa penganalisis, guru mempunyai pengaruh besar, jadi penglibatan mereka dalam politik boleh digunakan untuk mempengaruhi masyarakat terutamanya ketika pilihan raya umum akan datang.
Pensyarah kanan Kolej Undang-Undang, Kerajaan dan Pengajian Antarabangsa Universiti Utara Malaysia, Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani berkata, tindakan kerajaan membenarkan guru aktif berpolitik mungkin kerana ingin mendapatkan semula sokongan yang terhakis saban tahun.
“Saya lihat keputusan itu ada kaitan dengan pilihan raya umum kerana apabila guru aktif berpolitik mereka boleh memainkan peranan untuk mempengaruhi masyarakat,” katanya.
“Boleh dikatakan kerajaan (mahu) menggunakan pengaruh guru untuk mendapatkan sokongan daripada masyarakat.
